ARMOY Road Races is pleased to welcome Raymond Hodges and Lisa Ross of TT Racing as the new sponsors for this year’s 125/Moto3 race alongside BDS Motorcycles for the SS300/Moto450 race which takes place on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th July 2023.
Last year’s two stroke race was hotly contested with the likes of Mike Brown, Joey Thompson and Chris Meyer all in the mix, and with Barry Davidson and Darryl Tweed, both riding Kawasaki 300s, duelling in the SS300 class. This year across the classes in this race there are over 20 riders of which three are newcomers from across Ireland.
The sponsorship and support from Raymond Hodges and TT Racing were instrumental in ensuring that the Moto3/125cc will take place in 2023 after directors at the Armoy Motorcycling Road Racing Club had been urged to reconsider running the Moto3/125 class. Riders rallied and united to show their support for the class going forward and Raymond and TT Racing kindly stepped forward with the financial support. There has been a good number of entries this year and the race will also be supported by the large crowd of spectators expected to attend.
Raymond Hodges is well-known in motorcycling circles and is a long-life two stroke motorcycle fan and rider and as a bonus, he will also be riding in the race. Armoy Motorcycling Road Racing Club chairman William Munnis commented, “We are very pleased that Raymond Hodges and TT Racing have sponsored the Moto3/125cc race this year. Raymond has raced at Armoy numerous times, he’s a steady rider but he’s also a local man and we are delighted that he is assisting in this capacity as a sponsor.
“With only a few days left until race day, the Club and I, are very busy with the final preparations. It is an extensive operation to host and run the Armoy Road Races and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who are turning day in day out to ensure we are ready to welcome the first riders next Wednesday or Thursday and then for practice come Friday. Armoy Road Races continues to attract top name riders and alongside the many fans that have kindly ordered programme packages we are just about set for this year’s racing!”
As the final countdown begins fans are reminded that Bike Week runs from Sunday 23rd July until Saturday 29th July. Full details of what’s on can be found on the club’s website armoyroadraces.com. The racing takes place on Friday 28th July and Saturday 29th July 2023, culminating in the Bayview Hotel ‘Race of Legends’.
