Racing Results 2021
The event that was run amidst covid 19 restrictions after missing out on the 2020 season due to the pandemic. The weather prior to race week was blistering the tar, the week after and we would have had torrential heavy showers, so we were fortunate in that it was dry but a little overcast with low temperatures dominating both practice and race day.
We had a bumper rider entry allowing us to run B races in the Open and the Supertwin Classes. Friday practice was a busy day with extra sessions allowed to compensate for lack of track time over the last 2 years. Two races were run after practices sessions and the Lightweight supersport/250GP was the first of Michael Dunlops wins on the 250 Honda, quickly followed up with another win in the Supersport 1 race on his Yamaha R6.
Michael was the stand-out performer with 5 races entered, 5 races won including the Race of Legends for an amazing ninth time. Lap records tumbled, with Derek McGee doing 98.816mph in the supertwins, R.J Woolsey set a speed of 79.073mph in the 300 supersport, Dominic Herbertson set the new Classic 350cc lap record of 84.417mph while Barry Davidson set the Classic 500cc record at 83.567mph but still the top lap record went to Michael Dunlop in the Open race with a new lap record of 106.945mph on the BMW – SYNETIQ BMW Motorrad, making him quite rightly Man of the Meeting.
