Bayview Hotel commits its support for 2023 Event
THE Bayview Hotel in Portballintrae has confirmed its continued title sponsorship of the Armoy Road Races, ‘Race of Legends’ which takes place over the weekend 28th and 29th July 2023 in and around the village of Armoy, Co Antrim.
Attracting some of the best-known riders, both locally and internationally, the Armoy Road Races promises to be an exciting two days of racing.
Following the uncertainty earlier this year with the entire Northern Irish road racing being cancelled in February after insurance costs tripled for 2023 from £170,000 to £410,000, and with the relief that the Motorcycle Union of Ireland (Ulster Centre) secured a new insurance quote for its events, Armoy Motorcycling Road Racing Club (AMRRC) is indebted to the support of local companies to ensure its event can go ahead.
The Bayview Hotel is one such company and will once again be the title sponsor of the not to be missed, final race of the meeting, the ‘Race of Legends’ which is always a highly contested race.
Trevor Kane, Bayview Hotel owner said, “We are delighted to once again be able to sponsor the Armoy Road Races ‘Race of Legends’ event for this year. The time and effort put into organising these races is testament to the club’s commitment to road racing. It’s great that the races will go ahead at the end of July, and we are very much looking forward to being part of the event in 2023.”
Now in its fourteenth year, Armoy Road Races is going from strength to strength with top riders poised to make an appearance. Entries are expected from Austria, France, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man as well as local riders.
The club chairman William Munnis commented, “It has been an anxious time but once we heard of the insurance issues were resolved for this year at least, and the club carried out its own due diligence, we were able to move forward with planning. The club is truly grateful for the sponsorship and support of Trevor Kane and the Bayview Hotel over the years and to all our other sponsors. The races just could not take place without their support and encouragement.
“We are now on the countdown and looking forward to the next few months of final preparations. Programme packages have just gone on sale via our website, allowing people to obtain an ‘I supported the Armoy road Races 2023’ colour coded wrist band, along with a race programme and vehicle window sticker for parking in the official car parks during the races. At a cost of £30, we believe given the spiralling event costs, it represents good value. Road racing has been celebrated in Ireland for over 100 years and in order for it to remain a unique part of our heritage, it has to evolve. We are doing our very best to ensure that the Armoy Road Races will be an exciting event that celebrates all that is great about road racing and this year is shaping up to be one of our best yet.”
The Armoy Road Races attracts a high calibre of riders and loyal fans who continue to support it year on year. This year, Bike Week runs from Sunday 23rd July until Saturday 29th July with the races taking place on Friday 28th July and Saturday 29th July 2023 culminating in the Bayview Hotel ‘Race of Legends’. The Armoy Road Races event is enabled by funding from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
Further details on Bike Week will be unveiled over the next few weeks.
