Racing Results 2024
The course was in superb condition with extra bales added along the Start/Finish line and around the corner of Turnarobert. We again had a bumper entry with 28 newcomers, among them was returning IOM favourite Conor Cummins who had taken up the chance to ride for FHO Racing in the Open & Race of Legends. Unfortunately there was no late entry from local legend Michael Dunlop to allow the fans to celebrate in his successful TT wins.
The whole summer has been marred with showers and low temperatures and Fridays weather forecast was much the same. The Clerk of the Course implemented new Free Untimed Practise sessions for the Supersport, Supertwin and Superbikes prior to the actual qualifying sessions. The weather stayed fair during Practise and as the sessions finished the clouds opened and a heavy shower dampened the course but not the spirits of the spectators who had turned up in the evening to see the first of the Supertwin and Supersport Races. After a short delay, on a damp track, we started with the ABO Energy Supertwin in what is proving to be the closest class year on year with Jamie Coward coming out of the slipstream of Mike Browne to beat him by 0.012 in a Photo finish. Next up on a drying track was the Hilton Car Sales Supersport race and Mike Browne was determined on the BPE by Russell Racing Yamaha that he was standing on the top step with Davey Todd taking 2nd and Paul Jordan taking the 3rd step.
Saturday morning started off overcast but overall the weather was kinder. The programme ran to schedule with very few incidents and all race where completed by 3.25pm (Surely a record)
Again the Supertwin race was mega competitive with the old lap record of 99.249mph being smashed by Paul Jordan, Mike Browne and Jamie Coward all doing over 100mph with Jamie setting the new lap record of 100. 536mph and taking the win. Jamie Coward was also man of the meeting with his 2 Supertwin wins and several podiums from the 6 races making up the award classes. Davey Todd won the Supersport 2, The Open (setting a new lap record of 108.691) and the feature Bayview Race of Legends again setting a new lap record of 109.325 mph on the Milwaukee BMW.
