Hilton Car Sales Helps Drive Armoy Road Races

New Sponsor for Armoy’s Friday Supersport

Ballymena’s prestige and German car specialist, Hilton Car Sales, confirmed their sponsorship of the Armoy Road Races Friday night Supersport Race today.

Andy Hilton, owner of the second-generation family used car sales dealership said, “I’m a big fan of road racing and I’ve a few friends that race; for me it’s my main sport.  I’ve probably been around it all my life, going with my late father, Davy Hilton, to the road races around Northern Ireland when I was just a kid.

“My father was also a great friend of big Frank Kennedy, one of the Armoy Armada, going together to motor auctions many years ago. I’ve ran about with the likes of Neil Kernohan and road racing gets to you like no other. I saw that the Armoy Motorcycling Road Racing Club needed a sponsor and I wanted to help.

“It was an easy decision for me to help this great sport as well as put something back into the community. I think Armoy is the best race of the year at home and I always enjoy it.

“Hilton Car Sales is very happy to be sponsoring the Friday night Supersport race this year. I’m looking forward to supporting the road races and seeing a great couple of days’ road racing at the end of July!”

Based on the Cushendall Road, Ballymena, Hilton Car Sales, is renowned for their excellent service, quick turnaround times and ability to make things happen.  Any make and model can be supplied, and trade-ins are welcome. Warranty is given on all cars with viewings seven days per week, 9am to 11pm. Visit HiltonCarSales.co.uk or their Facebook page for more information.

Bill Kennedy MBE, Clerk of the Course, said, “The Club is absolutely delighted to have Hilton Car Sales involved with the Armoy Road Races this year. It’s great that a local Northern Ireland firm sees the potential in our national road race and teams up with us to make it a great event. It’s hard to believe it’s less than two months away so we are working really hard to get everything in place.

“We were fortunate last year in that on the Friday night there were two really good races. The Supersport saw Magherafelt man, Paul Jordan, clinch the top spot on the podium from Tobermore rider, Adam McLean by half a wheel, with third place going to Michael Sweeney from Skerries. And the Park Electrical Services and Armoy Construction Senior Support race was won by Maghera man, Stephen McKeown, from Armoy club member Tommy Henry, with a very close third from Mike Swanson from Aberdeenshire.

“This year, we are hoping for more of the same great racing, Friday and Saturday, so we are calling on all of our friends of the Armoy Road Races to come and support us and the road racing. I’d say there is no choice but to just get on your bike and come!”

This year, Bike Week runs from Saturday 20th July until Saturday 27th July with the races taking place on Friday 26th July and Saturday 27th July 2019 culminating in the Bayview Hotel ‘Race of Legends’.  The Armoy Road Races are part funded by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and Tourism Northern Ireland.
